I would buy less expensive and see if it works out.

I've used to dj dances. I've bought 4 basses for kids ( 3 were Peaveys). All good stuff.

Not the sexiest stuff around, but good and dependable.

I've blown my fair share of amps in my day. Never, Never, blew a Peavey amp.
