I think he started at $500 with me, and I told him since we weren't in any hurry we could bring it in whenever he had a hole in his schedule if that could help get us to $400 in cash (not a check). He agreed and we brought it in a week or 10 days later and it took him a couple of days to fix it. He did a good job and was easy to work with. My daughter's car is a red RAV4 and the damage was to the rear driver side door and body panel around the rear wheel. Having managed an automotive detail shop when I was younger, I have a pretty good eye for repaints and repairs, and his was pretty good.

For bumpers, the plastic bumpers used to not be repairable, but I think there's pretty good techniques now to repair them. You probably want an estimate/payment to replace, and then just get it repaired if it can be done.
