But it’s the Ute buddy observations that annoy me. Something like this “used to be Ute fans that’d watch every Y game, hoping for failure & losses. Getting ticked at refs if BYU got a break, refs are rigged in Y’s favor, Y’s a dirty team, Y’s a lucky team, they haven’t played anybody, nobody nationally respects Y etc. Script flipped, Now, CB is that mindset on steroids, bionic little bro mentality. It has to suck, being that obsessed & bitter.”

That’s a compilation of several different takes, but that’s the gist. And I totally agree. Being a scoreboard guy, that’s the sole reason I find the more extreme elements of this mindset irritating. If we had even 50/50 scoreboard, it might be tolerable to me, but combine 10 losses in a row, w CB Ute obsession, man it’s the worst look I could ever imagine. And so many insist it doesn’t exist at all, that it’s normal rooting against rivalry opponent. It’s well past that.
