Oh brother...
... what exactly did he rebuild? Did he kick the scandalous players out of the program, many of which were defensive players he helped recruit and was responsible for? Nope. That had already been done. You can't ignore that as DC he failed to keep several of his players disciplined and in line with the honor code.

Did he put together that fantastic roster in 2006 full of NFL talent? Not hardly. Most of those stars that he rode to early fame were all Crowton recruits.

Did he all of a sudden turn BYU intro a defensive monster? No. They did improve their defense once he finally scrapped his failed 3-3-5 scheme after 2005 but you can't ignore the part he played in leading BYU's awful defenses in 2003-2005 and themajor impact it had on losing seasons in 03 & 04.

He did bring stability to the head coaching position but it was Holmoe who hired Anae to bring stability to the offense which was a big part of the team winning.

Bronco is a good coach and did a good job at BYU but it's a false narrative that he "rebuilt" the program or that he "saved" the program as some have said on CB. That ignores the role he played in those terrible seasons and the lack of control by him and other coaches with players and failure to hold them accountable for breaking team/school rules and the law.
