Elf is actually kind of dark
- Buddy is cute and fun but he is legit mentally ill
- He’s clearly going to kill himself when Santa’s sleigh crashes. Consider: 1) he runs away with nowhere to go 2) the son is worried when he gets his dad and says ‘buddy left a note’ 3) he’s literally preparing to jump off the bridge.
It’s the only family movie I’m aware of where the lead character nearly makes a suicide attempt
