I feel bad for the OP. Not exactly the same, but my wife woke up at 3 this morning and couldn't fall back to sleep. It's so hard to see her struggle either falling asleep or not falling back to sleep. I've had fewer than 5 nights in the past year where I took more than a few minutes to fall asleep, usually it's less than a minute or two once I actually decide to go to bed. Watching my wife struggle, I've also learned that it is not something easily solved. What works for me definitely doesn't work for her.
