decent, stand alone flick.
The problem with Solo is we never find out how or why Han devolved into a hardened smuggler, who lives by kill or be killed, and whose only motivation in life is money.
Instead, we got a movie about a guy who started and ended the story with the same heart of gold he maintained throughout. At no point did he ever approach becoming the man that had no interest in saving Princess Leia until Luke promised him a ton of money. The Han of the Solo movie, who was last seen risking his own life to save a bunch of random people he didn’t know, would have saved Leia simply because it was the right thing to do.
So again, as a stand alone movie, it was fine. If it was meant to be the back story for Han Solo, one of the most famous movie characters ever, it failed miserably.
