as soon as they have such a great coach as you talk about, the coach bolts for a bigger payday at a P5 school. If they do not have a big fan base and are not getting the P5 money, those programs cannot compete with the P5 schools re coaching salaries.

Its pretty hard for them to win over fans from their own city because success is not guaranteed and because even successful G5 schools have very-limited access to big-time games and bowls.

The deck is stacked against G5 schools. Sure maybe UNLV can go up to a middle-of-the pack MWC pacific team, but that is not moving the needle to your average sports fan in Las Vegas unless they are a college football fanatic.
