When you compare them to people like Johnny Fairplay or Russell or Parvati of Boston Rob or Joe or James or Cirie or Rupert or John Cochran or any number of a dozen other contestants, they just isn't any "there" there with this group. No one that you really hate, no one that you really love. All of them are characters that traditionally make up the cannon fodder for the first 10 tribals.
I think CBS realized early on that they had a dud of a cast and so tried to play up the social justice aspect to get some traction. It just isn't that interesting.
