RE: At some point... BYU has to do more to meet the level of support...

I am wondering just who on this board knows how much effort, time, money, etc., is really put into all of the athletic programs at BYU?  I always thought that you (we....anyone) support a team, organization or whatever simply because we support them....not really looking for something in return.  I think the guys play hard.  There is no way for me to know what is really in the hearts and minds of anyone.  There are those that believe BYU is "handicapped", so to speak, because of the honor code and academics.  I can only speak to my feelings....and they are that I am so pleased that BYU tries to take the high road and represent the Church and all that it stands for.  I am the only member in my immediately family (siblings, etc.) and I have lived all over this country.  Anywhere I have lived I have associated with people who have always told me how wonderful they think BYU is and "congratulate" me for the standards.  I am also a firm believer that there are many athletes and their families who are more than capable of living those standards.  We just need to find them.  I went to BYU for just two years and MUCH later in life I managed to graduate from Florida State University....chosen because I was living in Florida at the time and got the bug to finish at age 56.  The experience in both schools was quite different.  Now, I realize that being LDS made me look at those experiences based on my particular paradigm.  I have said this before but I don't know if anyone has ever seen the post where I highly recommended everyone read a talk given by Neal Maxwell many years ago entitled "Why a University in the Kingdom".  Can we just continue to love the school and be as supportive as we can?
