He is arguably the best creative mind the star wars universe has had in terms of making stories that not only tie into existing Canon but expand the universe in non obtrusive ways.

He has been the mind behind one star wars TV show that got 7 seasons, one that has 5, and one that's on like it's second or third. He is helping to produce and write the Mandolorian.

If you're familiar with any of his TV series and I think you can argue that he knows what he is doing, he will setup a series first season with a strong hook (see the Mandolorian) then he will take most of his season to establish characters and their motives in a series of largely unrelated adventures to the main plot (see the Mandolorian) he will then finish the season with a bang.

Overall he knows where he wants to take characters and I wish he would have had more creative control on the movies. His entire career has pretty much been star wars and he's not only competent he is a fan of the universe and can make it appealing to the casual fan and the fanboy (he loves to throw in obscure Easter eggs).

I predict those who have been wishy washy will be satisfied with the last 2 episodes. More importantly I think an important ground work is being laid for the characters and for future seasons.
