If you don't have the quality wins to offset them then they can absolutely be kill your resume, but if you pick up the quality wins then they don't become as much of an issue. We had 3 bad losses back in 2014 (Pepperdine, LMU, and Portland) but still made the tournament as a 10 seed thanks to wins over Gonzaga, Stanford, and Texas. Granted that none of those were "sub-200" losses, but LMU and Portland were close to that.
