That Griffin thing is DOA since he may be undergoing season-ending knee surgery. Scratch that idea.
But there are rumblings out there that Al Horford is not a great fit in Philly and could get moved for shooting, which the Sixers desperately need. Conley for Horford? The dollars would work.
And I should be really clear: I like Mike Conley and actually think he definitely makes us a better team than we are right now. And there is risk that trading him would be a PR nightmare and not be worth the disruption. He's a great teammate, amazing community guy, and still a very good player who definitely helps us.
My concerns are that 1) Donovan plays best with the ball in his hands and so does Mike Conley; there's a little of the Chris Paul/James Harden problem there, and 2) I still feel like the team has a ceiling due it's total lack of frontcourt depth. The Lakers are a nightmare matchup for the Jazz right now, and it's hard to imagine getting by them in a 7-game series (I think they can compete with the other four contenders in the West). And then if somehow you make it out of the West, Milwaukee/Philly/Toronto await you which are other big teams that create match-up problems. Horford would solve that and make you kind of matchup proof. Otherwise, you are looking at playoff series with Bogey trying to guard Anthony Davis or Giannis...
This team as currently constituted can make the Western Conference Finals. If they want to go further, they need one more solid rotation player in the frontcourt IMO.
