I think where you mostly hear it now is from coaches...
lamenting how kids aren’t tough mentally and bolt at the first sign of opposition, etc.

The truth is that they are hypocrites, they do it for two reasons, one they want the depth and don’t care if that kid ever plays as long as he can be a quality insurance policy for them and two they don’t like to be questioned on their decisions. They want everyone to think that they always make the right decision and that of a kid is the backup it is because they are infallible and made the call and should never be questioned or second guessed. Then these kids transfer and are obviously studs and they look like idiots so they don’t like it.
