Correct, went to Oakland, then returned to BYU, then back to Oakland
He had only played for BYU in 77, 78, and 79 before that, so still had a year of eligibility. This was when it was ambiguous whether you could still play out your eligibility after going pro. NCAA ruled against him just before the first game. So he was on the BYU roster briefly in 81 before returning to the NFL.
