All season, I was rooting for LSU mostly because of the redemptive stories of Burrow, Orgeron, etc. The whole "team of destiny" thing was a great story. After their win, though, I'm a little disappointed because it seems like LSU (as a whole, including fans) are poor winners. I can't point to any single thing that bothers me all that much, but when you combine the OBJ stuff, the neck chant, some of the smack I've seen from LSU fans online, the cigar thing, Burrow throwing the team under the bus because he's not a student athlete anymore, etc. it all adds up to just seem a little...I don't know...trashy? Maybe that's too strong of a word. Maybe I just expected a blue blood like LSU to act like they've been there before.
On the flipside, Dabo was starting to bug me with his "no one respects us" talk, but I thought his postgame press conference showed him to be a great sportsman. He talked about how he knew what Ed Orgeron was feeling and was so happy for him. He said, "Tonight is all about LSU" which I thought was a super classy way to defer to the winners.
