And that it wasn’t just the Astros, but it was much more widespread. There have been rumors and comments for years, like taking pictures of dugouts and Apple watches etc. etc. Brian Cashman has been complaining about it to the commish for years according to Michael Kay. Even the commish released guidelines on it a few years ago so it was a widely known dirty little secret....

I think MLB had to acknowledge what the public was able to see (by virtue of the Jamboy video which supported the report in The Athletic) and used it as an opportunity to draw a line on this sort of stuff. So to be clear, I have no problem with them slapping down the Astros, I believe MLB has info that the problems were much more widespread and is just trying to contain the damage to a fairytale of it happening for 2017 and part of 2018.
