Be careful, some counties handle it differently. Sometimes you will get a credit
from the buyer for his share, but if it’s before you’ve paid for that period you will still be on the hook for it.

Your portion was likely pro-rated at closing since the borrower's full tax bill would have been due before his 1st pmt.
