you'd think i was a touring pro by looking at my guitars. I keep hoping that buying more nice guitars will help me play better, but that strategy hasn't worked (yet).

No, by my age, it is impossible to learn. once you hit 30, if you didn't know how to play it, you never will

I started learning guitar when I was 45. I was able to do it, but it took a determined effort.
