Ty Cobb has been misrepresented since 1961 when Al Stump wrote as a ghost writer for Cobb's autobiography. He made up almost all of the hoorible stories that we all have heard about Cobb. When Cobb read what Stump had written he threatened to sue the publisher (Doubleday), but sadly he died soon there after and the story was published as Stump had written it. All lies and hearsay. almost all information about Ty Cobb comes directly from the hack job done by Al Stump. Even Ken Burns when doing is Basball documentary used Stumps info instead of doing his own research. A few years ago a guy named Charles Leershenwanted to write a book on Cobb and sent out to find info on all of the stories written by Stump. He found them to be lies. Here is what he had to say.
