That’s an ‘Ono’ also known as ‘Wahoo’. Not even close to a ‘needlefish’. That
being said, they have chainsaw teeth, and this type of injury is extremely unusual.

The terrible thing for the kid though is that ocean fish, when they cause deep tissue damage like this. Cause a tremendous amount of infections. Many doctors don’t stitch these injuries because they need to be repeatedly treated for infection, directly on the affected tissue.

That poor kid may have a terrible battle ahead that is just started.
