My wife got training and certification to become a Pilates instructor when the
youngest kids started school. She tried Zumba first, but then switched to Pilates because the money is better and you can teach more classes in a row and per day (the instructors doesn’t get tired out teaching Pilates).

She currently teaches in a studio, works 25 hours per week now that kids are older. Several NFL players train at her studio. But there are lots of flexibility with the hours, and and some of her friends teach from their homes — usually privates or duets, as opposed to large classes.

The biggest downside with Pilates is that there can be quite a bit of training and studying, both initially to get certified and to maintain certification. And it isn’ necessarily cheap. It seems to me that it was about halfway to a physical therapy degree. Although I think it does depend on exactly which certificate you get, and through which organization.
