And have the chance to compete to be the starter. It’s really somewhat difficult on the coaches because he probably is another concussion away from considering hanging up the cleats. The first concussion he got was a legitimate big hit on whiffed protection; I’m guessing most qbs end up concussed on that type of force. The 2nd one didn’t seem that bad of a hit so it does make you wonder if he’s prone to them.
On a side note, we need to sure up our pass protection. Wilson and Hall in particular took some big hits on absolutely terrible protection in several games. Yet I continue to hear some say that the ol is the strength of the team. I couldn’t disagree more based on the poor protection for many games. BYU seems particularly poor at picking up blitzes but other times the lineman just whiffed, didn’t block anyone. Guys playing OG was the biggest issue. You can’t give up immediate pressure up the middle. That’s a receipe for turnovers, that did occur, many of which fans blamed on Wilson. When I watch the good college teams, their pocket looks a lot better than what our OL afforded our qbs in the games we lost.
