the NCAA tourney makes teams who can be top 32 or top 16 feel like they had a legendary year. I do think one external aspect that can help BYU football is a 12 team or 16 team tournament. But I digress.
Next year's roster as of right now:
SR - Barcello
JRs- Harding, Lee, Harward, Wade
SOs- Knell, Johnson, Lowell, Baxter
FRs- Ericson
That is 10 total scholarship players already so 3 remaining.
My predictions:
1.) Jesse Wade medically retires. Nothing inside but if it hasn't been fixed in two years I think he is done.
2.) BYU welcomes in Isiah White as a grad transfer.
3.) BYU picks up at least 2 JC transfers. Gideon George for insurance in the post, and an athletic undersized 4 who could slash is a player the current group doesn't provide and a JC PG to back up Barcello and start for one year.
4.) I have no clue who the 13th scholarship will go to but my guess is Pope will perhaps find a transfer or give it to a walk on for a year.
Starters in 20-21:
1.) Barcello
2.) Harding
3.) Isiah White from UVU
4.) Baxter
5.) Harding or Lee (I have no clue who is better)
Backups in 20-21:
1.) JCPG and perhaps a freshman late signee
2.) Knell and Ericson
3.) Johnson
As the season develops one of the 2/3 will develop into the primary bench player on the wing. I think the JCPG and one wing will be in the main rotation. I got no clue who it might be.
4.) Lowell and George. Primarily Lowell but I could see George getting time with certain matchups.
5.) Harding or Lee (I have no clue who is not better)
Recruiting in 20-21:
BYU will welcome in freshman PG Trey Stewart for the 21-22 season. They will also sign Isaac Johnson away from Oregon at the end of his mission and welcome in transfer Maddie Sissoko. So your roster in 21-22 will look:
1.) JCPG signee from spring '20, Trey Stewart, late freshman pickup in spring '20 who is now a sophisticating
2.) Harding, Ericson
3.) Johnson, Knell
4.) Baxter, Lowell, Johnson
5.) Harding or Lee (I will know who is better by then), Mady Sissoko
