LB late. He tried to put weight back on and was probably 215 or so, and he'll have a chance to add more this off season. I don't think Fonua is an example of much unless you mean the mistake of moving him at all after his freshman year.

Moving guys around to get pass rushers up front wasn't great, but wasn't the worst thing in the world. They kind of needed it at the time. But I think it's less important when they played where and more important to recognize that they played very well at LB in that defense. So how they used LBs outside of this last year wasn't a problem. It was just last season where things got really weird.

I've never found one person that could answer who was behind it. There are little rumors about the timing of installing changes, but I don't know what the heck was going on with how they actually chose to play them on the field. With Lamb's background, I imagine a lot of it was him. That combined with Tuiaki's weird lack of trust in the DBs every single year.

With whatever coaching changes they make this off season, and scheme changes, at the very least I'd just like to see the coaches trust the players more. They've got more experience and the defense as a whole won't be so young. They don't have an excuse. They've got a ton of talent and they need to trust that talent to perform.

Maybe having a healthy Wilcox at CB and two other talented juniors, plus Anderson back at safety will help them trust the DBs and play aggressive with the LBs. If you're not going to use Isaiah Kaufusi aggressively in his senior year, I don't know what you're doing.

I think Tanuvasa will be really really good inside and he and Wilgar can do a lot of damage. If they run 4 LBs, it could be the best interior LB group since 2013 with Unga and Hadley.
