Yes. OP says BYU didn’t want to use a software product and that means BYU must
not be interested in technology or being innovative.

Chazen is stating BYU already had good software. Meaning not only is BYU interested in technology, they were possibly ahead of the curve compared to Utah or other programs.

Most important thing this post points to is random anecdotes never tell the whole story and are never worth getting all up in arms about.
