Interesting to watch people's reactions to Kobe's death. It somewhat reminds me of the reaction of JFK's assassination.

I am saddened by his sudden death. Very tragic. I've been kind of surprised by the huge reaction to it. But at the same time - as I reflect on events that have happened in my life I'm reminded by it.

I've been watching MadMen. The other day I watched the episode that focused on the assasination of Pres. John F Kennedy. That episode got me thinking because I was just a young boy when it happened. I remember watching the funeral procession on TV and all the huge reaction to it. The TV episode did a great job in reminding me people's reactions to the assasination. It was a huge, traumatic event in our country's history. (It also saddened me that if something like that happened today that the reaction would not be nearly the same.)

There have been a few other times when big events happened like this: Martin Luther King's and Bobby Kennedy's assassinations, Space Shuttle Columbia, Pres. Reagan being shot, 9/11, etc. It's good to mourn together. It's interesting to see tragic events like this happen in the advent of social media. It really changes some of the dynamics, but at the same time - the shock and reaction are fairly similar to each other.
