Years ago I told my wife to never let me buy a black car
And the reason I told her that was because I knew that despite everything I know about how difficult it is to care for a black car, I would be tempted to do it so I wanted her there to talk me out of it when the time came.

Nothing looks better than a clean black car. Nothing stays cleaner for a shorter amount of time than a clean black car. Drive it twice around the block and it will have a visible film of dust on it. Every scratch and swirl mark shows in direct sun light. It's awful.

And I've still bought three of them. I had the conversation with my wife after owning the first one. When it came time for the second, she told me what I had instructed her to tell me, but then said go ahead if you really want to. The third time she just said you're on your own.
