Look in the mirror
No one thinks conley is right. No one thinks he’s had a positive impact in anyway for this team.

If you watched the pregame on NBA TV you would hear respected NBA veterans like McHale and Anthony who know the game ask how long can the Jazz continue to wait for Conley to show up. McHale said Conley has been “terrible for the Jazz and at some point Quinn Snyder has to look Conley in the eye and say you just don’t fit. ....at some point you just have to pull the plug.”

If you listened to the radio you would hear Jazz radio voice David lock say with just three minutes to play, “there have been some really strange sequences in this game with involving Mike Conley.”

If you watched the Houston series the last two years you would see a jazz team that couldn’t make the three point shot. You blamed tonight’s loss on a bunch of guys not named Mike Conley. You blamed it on guys who have had big moments this year to help this team win a bunch of games despite Mike not showing up.

Well tonight we had the same problem, we couldn’t hit an open three. The solution to last years problem was eliminate Rubio and insert Conley. Mike Conley. The guy who some said would be the best player on our team. The guy who is the highest paid player on the team. Well Mike went Ofer from behind the arc, and then he blew an open layup.

Mike is paid to lead this team in scoring and assists and in leadership on a regular basis. He underwhelms. He doesn’t make big plays. He doesn’t facilitate the offense. He doesn’t mesh with the offense. Most of all there is NO synergy with Conley. He doesn’t make others or this team better.

I didn’t see this coming. I hadn’t watched Mike a lot. I bought into what everyone was selling and looked forward to this year. I watched intently in the preseason. He was poor, but it was just the preseason. Then I watched the first few games and after about the fourth game of watching I knew he wasn’t a star player. Stars don’t disappear for 8 games.

Then I read RdF3’s post on cougarboard. Interestingly he dug up highlights from last year on Conley and posted them. He pointed out how his shot had changed. He was right. Something is wrong with Mike. Could be mental or could be physical, but he is not the same player offensively or defensively.

Curious, I called a good friend in the Organization who advises the Jazz regularly and who has regular conversations with the top brass (I won’t say more). Anyway I asked him what’s up with Mike. This was about 10 games in. He flat out said he doesn’t fit, and that it was a big problem between some who were invested in Conley working, and those who were invested on winning games if you can read between the lines.

Conley was such a big move. We gave up a lot of assets to get him and he takes up a lot of cap space. I will also say this. I was told on that call that there were those in the organization pre-trade who DID NOT think his play would translate. But what could the Jazz do? New Orleans wouldn’t give up Holliday. There was a window open with the brake up of the Warriors and they had to roll the dice.

I wasn’t the first to notice that the Conley experiment failed. Others like the Jazz organization and RdF3 knew it first. You however just keep on being his apologist. You’ve been a jerk to me for noticing what guys like Kevin McHale and Greg Anthony have Noticed. Yet you take swipes at guys who just had an off game. Isn’t it Mike Conleys turn to show up and be the guy? Just once? Couldn’t the 153 Million Dollar man make a positive impact in just one game?
