Bias. Specifically human bias. Eye test. Non-measurables. Gut feelings.
When the committee meets these things come into play. They deny it. In fact they try to mitigate it. But in the end, based on historical precedent and as things currently stand there is nothing that leans BYUs way when it comes to the biases of the aforementioned committee members.
Therefore I think it leans away from BYU and will bite them in the end.
