IIRC after a score they can opt to have the ball 4th and 15 at their own 25. If they

convert it then it’s just 1st down and a normal drive. If not the other team gets the ball where they got the stop. Something like that.

Nope. They just declare they are trying an onside and it follows the NFL rules.
