It can be easy if you are budgeting and can tighten things up a bit.
Looking at real numbers:

401k = $19,500
HSA = $7,100
IRA (roth or traditional) = $6,000 (or $12,000 if you have a spouse)

I'm not saying this amount of money is just like stroking a check, it is significant, but $32,600 or $38,600 (if 2xIRAs) is doable in my opinion for anyone making $100k and up.

You certainly may not have the biggest house on the block or the latest Mercedes, but I'd much rather invest the money and leave the workforce decades earlier than put money into things that are above my needs.
