I love BYU, BYU Sports, and BYU Football in particular. Many of the great moments and benchmarks of my life are tied directly to BYU--meeting my wife there, attending BYU Law, shoring up a floundering testimony while at an EFY (I stayed at the old Helaman Halls), watching KO Kealaluhi haul in that beautiful pass from Steve Sarkisian in the Pigskin Classic in 1996, and many, many others.
I became an official Cougarboarder around the time of Jimmer (probably in the wake of Michelle Peralta), but lurked long before that.
Even more substantively, I have received so much good and friendly advice on the board regarding personal finance, self-improvement, husbanding, and fatherhood. I love this board because we all have a common background and interest--Brigham Young University. With that comes a loaded assumed background--the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Utah and the Intermountain West, a focus on family (who knew there could be so much discussion centered on minivans, SUVs, and crossovers!), and a fascinating cross-section of BYU fans who tick all (or none!) of those boxes. I love it.
I want my tenor on and contribution to this board to match that love.
I find that my interactions on this board, while sometimes meaningful and uplifting, are too often negative or demeaning.
I'd like to flip that on its head.
I'm sorry if I've been a jerk. I'll try to be better. I'll probably fail.
Go Cougs.
And go Cougarboard.
