The casual AP voter isn't going to look into the margin-of-loss or competition

level for a WCC team. Those overtime road losses may as well have been 20+ point home losses. Ditto with half of the losses coming against projected one seeds. WCC teams, especially ones full of white guys and without much recent success, don't get AP voters to look into the context of their losses.
