lottery. That team was supposed to take last place in the WAC. Reid was able to negate the obvious disadvantages for most of the game and nearly pulled it off. But yes, it is one of the many frustrating first round NCAA games we have had. The other one that was just as bad as far as late meltdowns go is the 2007 team that lost an 11 point lead to Xavier in the closing minutes. The officiating was horrid and it sucked that they practically made us play a road game in the other team's back yard, but we should have had it. Keena Young's gutsy performance in that game was one of the hardest working efforts I have ever seen. He left it all on the court that night.
Xavier is only about an hour away from Lexington, where the game was. I still think the committee should try to avoid giving a team a "home" game when the lower seeded team is the "home" team. Then again, they gave BYU that advantage in 1991, when as a 10 we played Virginia in SLC.
