Yes, but China lies and the reported deaths need to be compared to cases

from 1 to 2 weeks ago. It takes time for deaths to occur. You can't simply take new cases and use them with mature cases to calculate death rates and say that is the death rate. Take today's deaths and divide by the number of cases from a week ago.

In other words, the denominator and numerator are both uncertain.
