I worked at a GM dealership for almost 10 years
I encouraged people to consider ordering. How long it takes for the vehicle to arrive depends on which vehicle you are ordering because they are all built in different factories, but expect 6 to 10 weeks. You can still get dealerships to compete for your business by asking a few to price it out before you order, then go with the best price or the dealership you feel the most comfortable with. Keep in mind they won't know what the rebates will be at the time you take delivery so your price net of rebates won't be known until you sign or at least know what month the car will arrive at the dealership.

We had many customers order vehicles.
