and we blew it. The death rate under 60 is so low that the main productivity drivers of the economy (transport, supply chain, service industry, etc) could have continued to work and kept the economy moving and jobs intact while the at risk groups self isolated. Amazon, Uber and other delivery services could have ramped up home delivery options to those at risk. Individuals greater than 60 still working could do so from home (many are likely execs or in leadership roles that might allow this).
By using a one size fits all approach, we missed a golden op to save billions in economic losses while still protecting the vulnerable.
Is it too late to do this now?
