whether it's improving or not won't be based on my personal feelings (or Ssebo's).  It will be based on metrics.  I can't feel whether the ocean levels are rising, whether the stock market is doing better, or whether more people are living in poverty.  Those aren't feelings.  I don't understand feeling like things are better.

I do understand reading the news and having hope that it may get better soon.  But I don't feel things are getting better (or not).  Those are thoughts.  And it's an important distinction.
