Just to clarify, after further research, I believe the employee gets both
paid sick leave (2 weeks) and FMLA (an additional 10 weeks at 2/3 pay after the initial 2 weeks). Loss of childcare is one of the qualifications for both.

When our kids have been born, I could take sick leave or FML, but not both. This was in CA.

The employer isn’t affected by the emergency 10 days, you get tax credits
