They're on track to pass China (in cases, passed them in deaths about 2 weeks ago) in the next couple of days. The US already passed China, and things aren't looking great in terms of case trajectories:
But when it comes to deaths, the US is doing much better than most countries. Also, I'm suspicious of Iran's reported numbers.
Of note: Spain is looking very, very grim. Case trajectory is higher than Italy, and the death toll is much worse than them by a significant margin. I suspect that's where we'll be hearing the kind of reports we're getting from Italy today.
