I haven't attacked this Doc's integrity
I'm saying this is a single source making unverified claims not currently replicated anywhere else let alone not even being reported anywhere else.

It is very problematic to take such claims and claim they are fact. It isn't scientific nor is it responsible to do.

You've resorted to personal attacks on me, I thought this forum had some rules about that.

But let's play this game: I did watch what he had to say, so let's talk his facts.

He says he serves a population of 35,000 Hasidic Jews and estimated that 20,000 of them are currently infected with the virus. He says that is based on, "results coming in" which I assume is based off of his best guess - as that count does not line up with current reported infection rates in New York.

He reports that he has given an unspecified cocktail of hydrochloroquine and zinc to his patients in the early stages and none have had to be hospitalized yet. Good news it seems. He claims hundreds of patients.

So let's just assume everything number wise is in fact correct including the 350 patients which is a number he didn't claim in the video.

Let's also consider an average hospitalization rate for the virus in the US, which is currently 2%. So that would mean doing no treatment would only result in 7 of his 350 who may need hospitalization. Also let's add in time. It is early in the game to claim victory when many of these people may not have even recovered yet from the virus, let alone fully progressed in their illness. I'm assuming these are people treated within the last couple of weeks. All reports are that things go south very quickly and late in the game with this disease.

Of course we don't know the demographics of who he has treated including age or of their relative health, nor really any other numbers, not to mention what he actually prescribed. In fact he is a PCP, which means he may not even know if his patients have been hospitalized. Regardless all of that, his personal results are hardly a statistically significant sample size.

That's the point.

I have no power to "quash" whatever he is doing or saying, my opinion on CougarBoard has no bearing on his work nor ANY research. I'm just saying let's back these claims up with a little peer-reviewed science and a statistically significant sample size before propping up false hope. Let's not spread potential disinformation. A guy just died because he took unprescribed chloroquine based off of false hope from such reports.

I'm not saying don't pursue the claims, and if he is right awesome, but right now even in the best light his claims are completely unverified, and in a fair light may even be dubious.
