They were wearing gloves, scanning membership cards with the gun from several feet away, enforcing distance between customers in line, and keeping as much stuff as possible in the cart so they didn't have to touch anything, just use the gun. One guy went through and organized the basket quickly while wearing gloves, then the other guy came through and used the gun to scan each thing. They've drastically reduced the amount of contact they have with customers.
