Of course the USA is going to pass Italy. It goes without saying. The US has 5X the population and is also really beginning to ramp up testing. More tests means more confirmed cases.
This wasn't about comparing Italy to the USA in that way.
I just thought it was interesting where Italy's numbers were and where the USA was starting - and gaining - on Italy's numbers.
Similar to putting a Ford Fiesta on the track with a Ferrari - giving the Ford a head start doesn't mean the Ferrari won't pass it. But it can be interesting guessing how far the Ford gets before the Ferrari passes it. (I guess, since we're talking USA and Italy maybe I should've used a Fiat 500 versus a Corvette - but you get the idea.)
