CoachSpeak Intervention Needed
So the new University of Hawaii O-Coordinator/QB coach called me last Thursday..
to discuss the situation with me and how it will or might affect my son. They had each position coach call each players parents to talk to them about it. I asked him what he thought or had heard and he told me that it simply isn't known yet but he did list out some issues for me.

One issue is spring practices, some schools already had them completed ad got all 15 practices in, he specifically talked about Boise St and Air Force having already gotten all 15 done since they are in their conference, some got a few practices in and some, like Hawaii, hadn't gotten any because they weren't scheduled to start until this week. That is a real advantage for schools like Boise and AF and a real disadvantage for Hawaii. He did say some actual discussion had taken place about it, like whether they could have an abbreviated spring practice in June, maybe 7-8 practices, or another idea was that the teams who hadn't gotten any spring going yet would be allowed to start fall camp a week early and have 5 extra practices before fall camp starts for everyone else.

The other issue is that players aren't all actually onsite to even have meetings or class study. For instance our son came home the Saturday before last for spring break, it had been planned previously that he was coming, and he was supposed to fly back last Saturday so that he'd be back to start spring practice Monday of this week. Well that changed because of circumstances, spring practice was indefinitely postponed, school went all online, and Hawaii enacted a 14 day quarantine for people going or returning to the state plus they have a 30 day stay at home order in place so kids like my son and the others who went home for spring break couldn't return anyway. They even have coaches that were over here on the mainland including I think Todd graham the HC who can't return so our son is home for the forseeable future and couldn't be there anyway.

So they have started to have online meetings every day, 8 pm our time, based on position groups so my boy sits there on at the kitchen table with his laptop every evening for about an hour trying to learn as much as they can learn but you can see how big a disadvantage that is.
