I repaired consumer electronics for a big company. I was paid hourly.
But now it makes sense why when I took my f-150 into the dealership for service at 30k miles they tried to sell me the 100k mile service package when all Ford recommends is an oil and filter change. I was pretty puzzled at their insistence that I needed to change my transfer case, differential, and transmission fluid. But yeah, knowing they got a cut of that it makes sense now.
