I have a weird thing about turning my sprinklers before May 1.
Some years ago I was able to go until June 1. My lawn needed watering around May 28th, but I took great pride in waiting until the 1st, and my lawn was only slightly drought stressed. But to be honest, lawns along the Wasatch Front usually need a couple of waterings before May.
