Genetically? I’m no expert but it would make sense that it’s possible.

Similar to how Africans are more prone to Sickle Cell Anemia there may be unknown genetic factors that lead to increased susceptibility. (Not that Sickle Cell is a communicable disease, it’s genetic, but the same idea)
