Vakapuna, and Tonga—THREE NFL caliber backs, and still went with the pass over the run again and again. Obviously the coaches know more about calling plays than I do, but that was head scratching. Maybe it’s because we are QB U and have a history with the forward pass, and have traditionally had some great QBs, but it seems like our offensive coordinators over the years have a little too enamored with the pass, especially when playing Utah. Then again maybe the coaches were worries about Utah’s solid defensive line last year, and didn’t want to try to keep jamming it up the middle. But I agree Ty’son was a great player and could have kept it closer that game—it’s too bad he got injured.
