They're hiding out in an abandoned church so no one will find them. They come back from town and getting supplies with Dal to find there is an elementary school field trip to this place? No principal or teacher would allow elementary school kids to play inside such a dilapidated structure. It beggars the mind. It is so distant from the reality in which rest of the story is set that it makes zero sense and the amount of disbelief necessary to be suspended was an amount I could not gather.
